What you can do with GTM connected
Claude can inspect a container end to end — accounts, containers, workspaces, tags, triggers, and variables — and build new ones from a plain-language description instead of the tag configuration UI.
- Find paused, duplicate, or unused tags before they cause a tracking gap
- Build a GA4 event tag, a Google Ads conversion tag, or a pixel tag from a description
- Create the trigger that should fire it — page view, click, form submit, or scroll depth
- Review what changed in a container and whether it was published
Why this matters for tracking accuracy
A container that looks fine in the GTM UI can still be firing a tag twice, missing a trigger condition, or sitting unpublished in a workspace. These are exactly the kind of pattern-recognition problems Claude is good at once it can actually read the container.
- Monthly container audits before they cause a reporting discrepancy
- Fast tag builds for a new conversion event across every ad platform at once
- Cleanup of tags left over from a platform the account no longer uses
How to connect Google Tag Manager
GTM rides the same Google sign-in as GA4 and Google Ads. Once you grant Tag Manager access during sign-in, Claude can read and edit containers you have permission on through MCP Ads.
