Claude cannot see your ad accounts on its own. MCP Ads is the connector that gives it access — one URL added to Claude as a custom connector, then every account you have authorised is available to ask questions of and to change.

What Claude can do once it is connected

The useful part is not that Claude can fetch a number. It is that the analysis and the change happen in the same place, so there is no export, no spreadsheet, and no second tool to go and click in.

Setting it up in Claude

Add MCP Ads as a custom connector in Claude with a single URL. Claude opens a browser sign-in, so there are no client IDs or secrets to paste. The same URL works in Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex, and Gemini CLI.

There is a free tier to try it against a real account. Paid plans cover unlimited connected accounts and the write tools.

Questions

Can Claude connect to Google Ads on its own?

No. Claude has no access to your advertising accounts by default. It needs an MCP server that holds the authorisation and exposes the platform as tools, which is what MCP Ads does.

Is my ad account data sent to Anthropic?

The results of a tool call go into the conversation, in the same way any answer does. Your platform credentials never do — they stay encrypted on the MCP Ads side and are never exposed to the client.

Does this work in ChatGPT too?

Yes. The same connector works in any MCP-compatible client, and there is a Custom GPT action for ChatGPT specifically.
