Facebook Ads Budget Calculator

Calculate the right Meta Ads budget for your lead generation or sales goals — with notes on audience size and learning phase requirements.

How to set the right Facebook Ads budget

The right Meta Ads budget depends on three things: your target cost per result, how many results you need per month, and whether your audience is large enough to sustain the spend without hitting high frequency.

  • Learning phase: Meta needs at least 50 optimization events per ad set per week to exit the learning phase. If your target CPL is $20, you need $1,000/week per ad set minimum to feed the algorithm.
  • Audience frequency: Small audiences fatigue fast. With a $100/day budget and an audience of 200k, you will hit frequency 3+ within two weeks. Plan your creative rotation accordingly.
  • Test budget: Before scaling, you need at least 50 results to validate performance. Multiply your target CPL by 50 to get your minimum test budget.
  • CBO vs ad set budgets: Use Campaign Budget Optimization once you have performance data. For testing new audiences, use ad set-level budgets to control spend per audience.
