What you can do
The surface is deliberately shaped like the questions you would already ask about a Google Ads account. Claude can list every Microsoft Advertising account the connection reaches, walk the campaigns, ad groups and keywords inside one, and pull performance for any of them. Anything the standard views do not cover goes through a custom report: Claude submits it, polls until Microsoft has built it, and reads the result back in the same conversation.
- List accounts, campaigns, ad groups and keywords
- Campaign-level performance summaries over any date range
- Keyword-level reporting to find what is spending without converting
- Submit and poll custom performance reports for columns the summary views omit
- Update campaign budgets and pause or enable campaigns
- Compare Microsoft Advertising against Google Ads in one prompt when both are connected
Why this matters for accounts running both Google and Bing
Most advertisers treat Bing as an afterthought because checking it means a separate login and separate reporting, so a pacing problem or a keyword that quietly doubled its CPC can sit for weeks. With both platforms connected to Claude, a single prompt can compare Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising side by side, and the weekly summary becomes one document instead of two.
- Compare CPA and ROAS between Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising for the same campaigns
- Spot Bing-specific budget pacing issues before they compound at month end
- Pull one combined weekly summary instead of two separate ones
- Mirror a negative keyword or budget decision made on Google without re-deriving it
Connect the account
Microsoft Advertising connects through a managed browser authorisation flow. You sign in with the Microsoft account that already has access to the advertising account, approve the permission screen once, and MCP Ads holds the grant. There are no developer tokens, client IDs or secrets to paste anywhere.
- Open Connections and pick Microsoft Ads
From the MCP Ads dashboard, choose Microsoft Advertising. The browser opens Microsoft's sign-in page.
- Sign in with the right Microsoft identity
Use the Microsoft account that is already a user on the advertising account. Microsoft Advertising access is granted per user, so a personal Outlook identity that has never been invited to the account will authorise successfully and then see nothing.
- Confirm the accounts
Back in the dashboard, the connection lists every advertising account it can reach. If you manage several through a manager account, they all appear here and you name the one you mean in each request.
- Ask for something real
A first query that exercises the connection end to end and confirms the account you expect is the one Claude sees.
Try this firstList my Microsoft Advertising accounts, then show campaign performance for the last 30 days on the main one, ranked by spend, with conversions and cost per conversion.

The write surface is small on purpose: budget updates and campaign status changes. Claude cannot delete a campaign, remove a budget or change a bid strategy on Microsoft Advertising, so a misread instruction is limited to pausing something or moving a budget, both of which are reversible in the same conversation.
Troubleshooting
- The connection succeeds but no accounts are listed: the Microsoft identity you signed in with is not a user on the advertising account. Ask the account owner to invite that email under Accounts & Billing → Users, or reconnect with the identity that already has access.
- A custom report never returns: Microsoft builds reports asynchronously, and large date ranges can take a minute or more. Claude polls the report; if it times out, narrow the date range or the column set and submit again.
- A budget change is rejected: Microsoft enforces a minimum daily budget per currency and rejects amounts below it. The error names the minimum; ask for a value at or above it.
- Performance numbers differ from the Microsoft Advertising UI: check the time zone. Reports are returned in the account's reporting time zone, and a range that ends today includes only the hours already processed.
