What you can do
- Turn a brand name into the page_id behind its ads
- List the ads an advertiser is currently running, with copy and start dates
- Read one ad in full detail, including the platforms it runs on
- Summarise the creative angles an advertiser is leaning on
- Pull EU reach figures, which are published for EU and UK delivery only
The coverage limit, before you start
Meta's Ad Library API returns ordinary commercial ads only where they were delivered to the EU or UK. Everywhere else — the US, Israel, Canada, Australia — the archive carries political and social-issue ads only, so a commercial search returns an empty result. That is Meta's rule, not a fault. Pass an EU country or GB, or use the Ads Transparency tools, which cover 180+ countries with no such restriction.
- Check access first
Confirm the shared research token is present and working before assuming an empty result means anything.

What it will not tell you
There is no commercial spend in the archive. Meta publishes spend ranges for political and social-issue ads only, and reach for EU deliveries. Nobody has a public source for what a competitor spends on ordinary commercial advertising, and a tool that offers you one is estimating.
