Why start here rather than with Meta
Coverage. The Transparency Center carries ordinary commercial advertising almost everywhere, including the US, Israel, Canada and Australia, where Meta’s archive returns nothing commercial. For most competitor questions this is the tool that answers.
- Search by brandTry this first
What ads is this competitor running on Google in the US, and what mix of formats are they using?
When a lookup comes back degraded
This is backed by a public endpoint Google publishes for browsing but does not document, and it rate limits at roughly 58 rapid calls. A degraded response says so and hands back a manual_url to open the archive directly. It never means your account needs reconnecting — no account is involved. There is also an environment switch that disables the family cleanly if Google changes the endpoint.
What it will not tell you
The archive shows what is running, not what it costs or how it performs. There is no spend, no impressions, no keywords. For your own account, the search terms report gives you the real data.
