Google Analytics 4

GA4 as the check on everything else: 95 tools covering acquisition, funnels, ecommerce, attribution, audiences and retention.

Why connect analytics as well as ads

Ad platforms grade their own homework. GA4 is where you find out whether the conversions each platform claims actually show up in the same place your revenue does — which is the single most common source of bad budget decisions.

  • Traffic and conversions by channel, source and campaign
  • Funnel and path analysis to find where visitors drop out
  • Ecommerce reporting: revenue, transactions, AOV, cart and checkout behaviour
  • Attribution paths, so you can compare GA4 against what each ad platform reports
  • Audience creation and custom dimension management

Connect the property

GA4 uses the same Google OAuth screen as Google Ads. If you connect both with the same identity, one authorisation covers both.

Tip

Connect GA4 with the same Google identity you use for Google Ads. Splitting them across two identities is the usual reason one connects and the other does not.

Common questions

Which GA4 permission do I need?

Viewer access is enough for reporting. Creating audiences or custom dimensions is a write action and needs edit access on the property.

Why do GA4 and Google Ads disagree on conversions?

Different attribution models and different windows. Google Ads counts a conversion against the click that drove it; GA4 applies its own model. Comparing them on purpose is more useful than trying to make them match.

Can it read more than one property?

Yes. Every property the authorised identity can reach is available, and you name the property in the request.
