Facebook & Instagram Ad Size Checker
Drop in an image or video to see which Facebook and Instagram placements it fits, which it does not, and what to change. The specs come from Meta's own Ads Guide, checked September 2026. The file stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Facebook and Instagram ad sizes for 2026
These are the numbers from Meta's Ads Guide. The recommended feed size changed to 1440 × 1800; many spec sheets still say 1080 × 1350, which Meta accepts but no longer recommends.
| Placement | Ratio | Recommended | Minimum | Video |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Facebook Feed | 4:5 | 1440 × 1800 | 600 × 750 | MP4, MOV or GIF, up to 4 GB, 1 second to 241 minutes |
| Instagram Feed | 4:5 (accepts 1.91:1 to 4:5) | 1440 × 1800 | 500 px wide | MP4, MOV or GIF, up to 4 GB |
| Facebook & Instagram Stories | 9:16 | 1440 × 2560 | 500 px wide | MP4 or MOV, up to 4 GB |
| Instagram Reels | 9:16 | 1440 × 2560 | 500 px wide | Up to 15 minutes and 4 GB; minimum width 250 px under 30 seconds, 500 px from 30 seconds |
| Facebook Marketplace | 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 or larger | Not stated | Same as Feed |
Images: JPG or PNG, up to 30 MB. Video: H.264, square pixels, constant frame rate, stereo AAC audio at 128 kbps or more. Source: Meta Ads Guide, read 23 September 2026. Meta changes these without notice; if a number here disagrees with Ads Manager, Ads Manager wins.
Which size to export if you only make one
- Feed-first campaigns: export 4:5 at 1440 × 1800. It fills more of a phone screen than 1:1 and is the recommended size in both Facebook and Instagram Feed.
- Stories and Reels: export 9:16 at 1440 × 2560, and keep text inside the middle: 14% clear at the top, 35% at the bottom, 6% on each side. The bottom 35% is where the caption, the account name and the call-to-action button sit.
- Running both from one ad: use Meta's placement asset customisation to attach a 4:5 and a 9:16 version to the same ad, rather than letting Meta crop one file for every placement.
- Reels length: Meta now allows Reels ads up to 15 minutes. Allowed is not the same as watched; the first three seconds still decide whether anyone sees the rest.
Upload the right version to the right placement
With Meta Ads connected to MCP Ads, you can hand Claude both cuts and ask: "Upload the 4:5 and 9:16 versions, create the ad with the 4:5 for Feed and the 9:16 for Stories and Reels, and leave it paused."
