Google Merchant Center

123 tools covering the whole Google Merchant API: products and inventory, data sources, product and account issues, performance reports, promotions, shipping and return policies, users, programs and local listings. Merchant Center is where Shopping sales quietly stop, with a disapproved product, a stale feed or a price that no longer matches the site, and this connection lets Claude find and fix those in one conversation.

What you can do

Claude reads the processed product and its issues the way Merchant Center shows them, changes products through an API data source, and runs Merchant Center Query Language (MCQL) reports.

  • Summarise approved, limited and disapproved products by destination and country
  • Explain each product and account issue, and trigger the fix Google offers where it has one
  • Add, update and delete products, and set local or regional inventory
  • Report clicks, impressions and conversions per product, price competitiveness and best sellers
  • Create and re-fetch data sources, and create promotions
  • Edit business info, shipping settings, return policies, regions, users and programs

Connect the account

Merchant Center rides the same Google sign-in as Google Ads and GA4, but asks for its own scope, so connecting it never changes your other Google grants.

  1. Authorise Google with Merchant Center

From Connections, choose Merchant Center. Sign in with the Google account that is a user on the Merchant Center account and allow access to Merchant Center.

  2. Register once per account

Google refuses Merchant API calls on an account until the API project is registered with it. Ask Claude to register, or it will offer to when the first call fails. It needs a Merchant Center admin and happens once per account.

  3. Ask for something real

A read-only check that exercises accounts, statuses and issues in one go.

    Try this first
List my Merchant Center accounts, then tell me how many
products are disapproved in the main one and the top
three reasons, with the products affected.

Safety on this platform

Careful

Product edits reach Merchant Center within minutes, so every write is its own tool that runs when you ask. Irreversible account changes, such as deleting an account, disabling a program or unclaiming the homepage, are written to be confirmed with you first.

Troubleshooting

  • Every call fails with "GCP project not registered": the one-off developer registration has not run on this account. Ask Claude to register it while signed in as a Merchant Center admin.
  • No accounts are listed: the Google identity you authorised is not a user on the Merchant Center account. Add it under Settings, then People and access, or reconnect with the identity that is there.
  • An edited product does not change: products come from data sources, and a scheduled feed can overwrite an API edit on its next fetch. Change it in the feed, or edit it through the data source that owns it.

Common questions

Does it use the old Content API for Shopping?

No. Google retired the Content API for Shopping in August 2026. This connection uses its successor, the Merchant API.

Can it manage client accounts under an advanced account?

Yes. Sub-accounts are listed from the advanced account, and each tool takes the id of the account it should act on.
