UTM Builder
Build a UTM-tagged campaign URL so GA4 (or any analytics tool) can attribute traffic to the exact campaign, source, and medium — not just "referral."
Why UTM parameters matter
Without UTM tags, analytics tools fall back to guessing: a click from a Google Ad often shows up as plain "google / organic," indistinguishable from someone who found you in a search result for free. UTM parameters make the source explicit, so paid and organic traffic never get blended into the same bucket by accident.
- utm_source — where the traffic came from: google, facebook, a newsletter platform, a specific partner site.
- utm_medium — the channel type: cpc, paid_social, email, referral. This is what separates "Google organic" from "Google Ads" in GA4's channel grouping.
- utm_campaign — the specific campaign or promotion, so you can compare this quarter's launch against last quarter's without digging through raw URLs.
- utm_term / utm_content — optional, but the difference-maker for A/B testing two ad variants or two keyword groups that otherwise share the same source, medium, and campaign.
