Why Meta Ads needs a watcher
Meta's delivery system does a lot on its own, which is the point and the problem. When results drift, nothing in Ads Manager taps you on the shoulder. Cost per lead can rise 30% over ten days without any single day looking alarming, and a declined payment method stops everything until someone logs in.
Those are exactly the questions that fit a text: how many leads today, what did each cost, is anything not delivering. Instinct answers them from live data through MCP Ads, and you can ask it to check on a schedule and text you only when something crosses a line you set.
Connect it in a minute
Connect Meta Ads in the dashboard at /manage. Ad accounts and Facebook and Instagram Pages are two separate Meta connections, so connect Pages too if you want to boost posts or read lead forms.
Create an API key under Connect MCP, then API keys (copy it, it is shown once), and text Instinct:
Connect MCP Ads for me. It is a remote MCP server: URL https://mcp-ads.com/mcp-slim, auth header Authorization: Bearer <paste your mcp_live_ key>. Keep it connected and use it for any question about my ads, analytics or SEO.
Make the key for Instinct alone and revoke it from the dashboard if you ever want to cut access. The Instinct page has the message ready to copy, and the Meta Ads MCP page lists what MCP Ads covers on Meta.
What it can read
Meta reporting through MCP Ads goes from the account overview down to single ads, with breakdowns by age and gender, placement, country, device and hour. For texting, a handful of views do most of the work.
| Question | What it looks at |
|---|---|
| What did leads cost this week? | Campaign, ad set and ad performance with results and cost per result |
| Is this audience tired of the ad? | Frequency and reach per campaign and ad set, next to CTR |
| Why is this ad set not spending? | Delivery diagnostics for the campaign, ad set or ad |
| Will the account stop delivering? | Spending limit and amount spent, plus payment errors |
| Who changed the budget? | Change history for a campaign, ad set, ad or the whole account |
| Which lead forms are live? | Lead forms on the connected Facebook Page |
Things to text
Mention the ad account if you have more than one, and the time window you care about.
- "How many leads did we get this week, and what did each cost by campaign?"
- "Which ad sets have frequency above 4 in the last 7 days, and did their CTR drop?"
- "Text me if any ad set's cost per lead is 30% above its 14-day average."
- "Is anything in the account not delivering today? Check payment errors too."
- "How much is left before the account spending limit?"
- "Boost this post to the warm audience ad set: [paste the Facebook link]. Keep it paused until I say."
- "Who changed budgets in the account since Friday?"
Fatigue, learning and attribution: reading the answers
Frequency is the average number of times each person saw your ads. It rising on its own is normal for a small audience. Frequency rising while CTR falls and cost per result climbs, on the same creative, is the classic fatigue pattern, and the usual fix is new creative rather than a new audience. Ask for those three numbers together.
Be careful with quick fixes. Meta treats large edits to budget, targeting or creative as significant changes that can send an ad set back into learning, which often makes results worse for a few days before they settle. One considered change beats three reactive ones. And remember attribution: Meta reports conversions with its own click and view windows, which will not match GA4. Instant form leads never reach your site at all, so GA4 shows none of them. The audience targeting guide goes deeper on the setup side.
What it will not do without you
Instinct can prepare a pause or re-activation, a campaign or ad set budget change, a duplicated ad set, or a boosted post. Budgets, statuses and new campaigns go through MCP Ads' approval and workspace controls, so nothing goes live on a text alone. New campaigns, lead ads and boosted-post ads are created paused, and viewer seats cannot make changes.
Boosting works from a post's link or a few words of its text: MCP Ads finds the post on your Page and places it as an ad in the ad set you choose, keeping its existing likes and comments. You still pick the campaign and ad set, so it is worth having a standing one for boosts.
The honest limits
Creative work is hard by text. MCP Ads can upload images and videos and build ads from them, and Instinct can send you an upload link for the file, but judging a new creative on a phone screen is not the same as seeing it in placements. Use the preview it can fetch, and review anything important on a bigger screen.
Some Meta features depend on your Business setup and Meta's permissions for your account, and lead data follows Meta's rules for who can see it. MCP Ads only sees the ad accounts and Pages you connected. It comes with a free trial, then $49/month flat; see pricing.
