Schedule Social Posts by Text: Instinct and the MCP Ads Content Calendar

Put Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok and WordPress posts on the MCP Ads content calendar by texting Instinct, then check, move or cancel them from your phone.

Most post ideas arrive away from the desk: in a queue, after a client call, on the train. If you use Instinct, the invite-only assistant you text, you can send the idea and the time and have it land on the MCP Ads content calendar, where it publishes on its own. This guide covers the setup, what each channel needs, and the few ways a scheduled post goes wrong.

Why schedule posts by text

Scheduling tools assume you sit down once a week and fill a grid. Real posting is messier. A customer sends a photo worth sharing, a sale is extended by two days, or you remember at 11pm that tomorrow's post mentions the wrong date. Texting the change is faster than opening a laptop, finding the calendar and clicking through a composer.

Instinct does not have its own social scheduler for this. When connected to MCP Ads it uses the same content calendar you see in the MCP Ads dashboard, so anything it schedules sits next to what you or your team scheduled by hand. There is one list of what is going out, whoever put it there.

Connect it in a minute

First connect the channels themselves in the dashboard at /manage, under Connections. Facebook and Instagram Pages, Instagram (which can also connect with its own login), Threads, LinkedIn profiles and company pages, TikTok for organic posting, and WordPress (with an application password) each connect once. Instinct can only post where MCP Ads is already connected.

Then, in the dashboard, open Connect MCP, then API keys, and create a key just for Instinct. It is shown once, so copy it. Text Instinct something like this:

Connect MCP Ads for me. It is a remote MCP server: URL https://mcp-ads.com/mcp-slim, auth header Authorization: Bearer <paste your mcp_live_ key>. Keep it connected and use it for any question about my ads, analytics or SEO.

The key ends up in your message thread, which is why it should be a key made only for Instinct. If you want it gone, revoke it in the dashboard and Instinct loses access at once. The Instinct setup page has the same message ready to copy.

What each channel needs

Every scheduled post is text, a time, and optionally one image or video. Some channels need more, and MCP Ads checks the same rules the calendar composer uses before anything is saved. If a check fails, nothing is scheduled and Instinct can tell you why.

ChannelWhat to sendWatch for
FacebookText, optional image or videoWith several Pages connected it asks which Page; name it in your text
InstagramCaption plus an imageNo image, no post. Uses the Instagram connected by its own login unless you name one linked to a Page
ThreadsText, optional mediaKeep it short; Threads has its own length limit
LinkedInText, optional mediaPosts go to the connected LinkedIn profile or page
TikTokCaption plus a videoA photo alone is refused
WordPressTitle and bodyGive a title; without one the first line of the text becomes the title

Times, time zones and batches

The calendar takes local times written as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM, for example 2026-10-05 09:00. You can say "Monday at 9" in plain words; Instinct turns that into dates. The times are read in your workspace's time zone unless you name another one, such as America/New_York or Asia/Jerusalem, which matters if you travel or post for a client in another country.

Each time becomes its own post. "Every weekday next week at 8:30" is five posts, each of which can be moved or cancelled on its own later. One request can hold up to 60 posts. If any of the times is already in the past, nothing in that request is scheduled, and the answer lists the times that were the problem, so you never end up with half a batch.

Getting photos and videos to it

The calendar needs a public URL for an image or video. From a phone you usually have a file, not a URL. MCP Ads solves this with an upload link: ask Instinct for one, open it, drop in the photo or video (several at once is fine, and MP4 and MOV work alongside JPG, PNG, GIF and WebP), and it gets back a URL it can schedule with.

Do not try to paste a file into the chat as text. Large inline data gets cut off in transit, and a damaged image can look fine until the platform rejects it. The upload link exists so you do not have to find a hosting service yourself.

Things to text

These are the kinds of messages that work well. Name the channel, the time and the text, and send media through the upload link when the channel needs it.

  • "Schedule this on LinkedIn for Tuesday at 8:30: We are hiring a junior designer, link in comments."
  • "Send me an upload link. I want this photo on Instagram tomorrow at 18:00 with the caption: Fresh batch, out at 6."
  • "Post our opening hours on Facebook every day this week at 9, on the Main Street Page."
  • "What is scheduled for the next 14 days? Just the channel, time and first line."
  • "Cancel the Threads post on Thursday, the event moved."
  • "Did yesterday's TikTok go out? Send me the link."
  • "Put this blog draft on WordPress for 1 October at 07:00, titled Autumn opening times."

Checking, moving and cancelling

Ask what is queued and Instinct lists the scheduled posts for the next 14 days by default (up to 90 if you ask), the posts published recently with their links, and any post that failed along with the reason. Failed posts are the ones worth an alert: an expired connection or a refused file shows up here first.

Cancelling does not delete anything. The post goes back to an unscheduled draft on the Content calendar in /manage, where you can edit the text or pick a new time. To change a queued post's wording from your phone, the simplest route is to cancel it and schedule the corrected version.

What it will not do without you, and the honest limits

A post you ask for in your own words counts as approved by you, exactly as if you had scheduled it in the calendar yourself, and it will publish at its time. So ask Instinct to read the text and times back before it schedules anything important. Ad changes are different: budgets, statuses and new campaigns go through MCP Ads' approval and workspace controls, and nothing there goes live until you approve it.

Limits worth knowing: you need write access to the workspace, so a viewer seat cannot schedule; in an agency workspace, name the client, or posts attach to the workspace's first client; and a channel that is not connected in MCP Ads cannot be posted to. MCP Ads comes with a free trial, then $49/month flat; see pricing.

FAQ

Which channels can Instinct schedule posts to through MCP Ads?

Facebook Pages, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok and WordPress, as long as each is connected in the MCP Ads dashboard under Connections.

Does a scheduled post publish on its own?

Yes. The content calendar publishes it at the scheduled time. You can see, move or cancel it on the Content calendar in the dashboard, or ask Instinct to cancel it.

Can I send a photo from my phone?

Ask Instinct for an upload link, open it and drop the file in. It returns a public URL that the calendar uses. Instagram needs an image and TikTok needs a video.

What happens if I give a time that has already passed?

Nothing in that request is scheduled, and the reply lists which times were in the past, so you can resend the batch with corrected times.

Does cancelling delete the post?

No. A cancelled post returns to an unscheduled draft on the Content calendar, so the text and media are kept and it can be rescheduled.
