Why TikTok Ads fits a text check-in
On TikTok the creative is most of the targeting. An ad that works on Monday can tire by the following week, and the signal is in ad-level numbers: CTR sliding, cost per conversion climbing, spend concentrating in one ad group. Checking ad-level results every few days is the habit that matters, and it is a two-line text.
The other TikTok-specific risk is billing. When an advertiser account has no usable payment method, delivery stops and API requests come back with a payment message. Hearing that by text the same morning is worth a lot more than finding it in a weekly report.
Connect it in a minute
Connect TikTok Ads in the MCP Ads dashboard at /manage. It uses MCP Ads' own TikTok sign-in: click Connect, approve on TikTok's page and you come back. Organic TikTok posting is a separate connection; see scheduling posts by text.
Then create an API key under Connect MCP, then API keys, copy it once, and text Instinct:
Connect MCP Ads for me. It is a remote MCP server: URL https://mcp-ads.com/mcp-slim, auth header Authorization: Bearer <paste your mcp_live_ key>. Keep it connected and use it for any question about my ads, analytics or SEO.
One key per agent means you can revoke Instinct's access alone from the dashboard. The TikTok Ads MCP page and the TikTok Ads docs describe the connection in more detail.
What it can read
MCP Ads' TikTok tools cover the advertiser account, its structure and its reports. Reports run at campaign, ad group or ad level for a date range, and a custom report can take any TikTok report parameters when the standard ones are not enough.
| Question | What it looks at |
|---|---|
| Which accounts can I reach? | The TikTok advertiser accounts the connection can manage |
| What did we spend and get? | Campaign report: spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, CPM, conversions, cost per conversion |
| Which ad is tiring? | Ad-level report over two periods |
| Will delivery stop? | Advertiser info and account balance |
| What is set up? | Campaigns, ad groups and ads, pixels, custom audiences, image and video assets |
Things to text
Name the advertiser account if you have several, and keep the date range explicit.
- "What did TikTok spend yesterday, and what did each conversion cost?"
- "Rank our TikTok ads by cost per conversion for the last 7 days, and flag any whose CTR fell against the week before."
- "What is the TikTok account balance, and is there any payment problem?"
- "Which ad group is taking most of the spend this week?"
- "Pause the ad called Summer UGC 3. Ask me before you do it."
- "Text me if TikTok spend is zero by noon on a weekday."
- "List the pixels on this advertiser account."
Reading TikTok numbers
An illustrative answer, with invented numbers: "Spend yesterday was 412 in account currency across 3 ad groups; 78% went to Prospecting Broad. Ad UGC-2 has the best cost per conversion at 18.40, but its CTR is down from 1.3% to 0.8% on the prior week." That last line is the useful one: a winning ad losing CTR is often the first sign it needs a replacement.
Conversions and cost per conversion depend on the TikTok pixel or events being set up correctly for the optimisation event you chose. If conversions are zero while clicks look normal, check the pixel before blaming the ads. And if you are making new creative for TikTok, the TikTok safe zone checker shows where the app's buttons and captions cover a vertical video.
What it will not do without you
MCP Ads can update TikTok campaigns, ad groups and ads (including switching them off), and create campaigns, ad groups and ads. Budgets, statuses and new campaigns go through MCP Ads' approval and workspace controls, and viewer seats cannot make changes. Instinct can prepare a change; it goes live when you approve it.
New TikTok campaigns are created paused, the same as Google and Meta campaigns in MCP Ads (TikTok calls this operation status DISABLE). Nothing goes live until you ask for it to be enabled, so a campaign set up by text cannot start spending on its own.
The honest limits
TikTok's ad group and ad creation takes TikTok's own fields, which are detailed and change as TikTok adds formats. That is fine for small, specific changes by text and awkward for building a full campaign on a phone. Build new structures in TikTok Ads Manager or at a desk, and use Instinct for checks, pauses and small edits.
Billing messages come from TikTok, and only TikTok's billing settings fix them. MCP Ads sees only the advertiser accounts your TikTok sign-in can manage. It comes with a free trial, then $49/month flat; see pricing.
