MCP Ads vs Optmyzr: PPC Management with AI Agents
Optmyzr or an AI agent? How PPC management differs between a dedicated optimisation platform and MCP Ads, which puts Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta and analytics inside Claude or ChatGPT, with a weekly workflow for each.
Optmyzr has been one of the serious tools for Google Ads managers for a long time. It surfaces optimisations, runs rules and scripts, watches budgets, and produces client reports, all inside its own application. MCP Ads takes a different approach to the same work: instead of a new application, it connects your ad accounts to the AI assistant you already use, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client, so the analysis and the changes happen in conversation. They are not direct substitutes, and many teams could use both. This post explains how each works, what a PPC week looks like with an AI agent, and how to decide.
- Optmyzr is a mature, purpose-built optimisation suite centred on Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising. If you want a structured queue of suggestions and rules that run on their own, it is built for that.
- MCP Ads is for PPC managers who already work in an AI assistant and want to ask for any analysis, across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, GA4 and Search Console, and act on it in the same thread.
- Both work through the platforms' APIs, so you can trial MCP Ads next to Optmyzr without moving anything.
Two ways to manage PPC with software
A PPC management platform like Optmyzr encodes expertise in advance. Experienced practitioners decide which checks matter, the platform runs them across your accounts, and you review a set of suggested changes, rules and alerts. The strength is consistency: the same good checks run every week whether or not anyone remembers to ask.
An AI agent with account access works the other way round. Nothing is pre-built into a queue; you ask a question in plain language, the assistant pulls the data it needs through tools, reasons over it, and proposes actions. The strength is flexibility: any question the data can answer, across any connected platform, without waiting for it to become a report. The weakness is the mirror image: if nobody asks, nothing happens, which is why the routine and the skills below matter.
What Optmyzr does well
Optmyzr is built by people who ran search accounts for a living, and its optimisations reflect that: search-term and negative keyword suggestions, bid and budget management, ad and asset recommendations, Shopping structure tools, budget pacing across many accounts, a rule engine for account-management logic without code, scripts, and agency-grade reporting. For a large Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising book, a system that surfaces the next optimisations every morning is valuable. Optmyzr continues to add features, including AI ones, so check its current product and pricing pages for what is included today and on which plan.

What MCP Ads does
MCP Ads is a hosted MCP connector. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or another MCP client, sign in, and connect your accounts. The assistant then has named tools for the work PPC managers do every week:
- Google Ads: search terms reports and bulk negative keywords, budget pacing, bidding strategies, responsive search ad asset performance, Performance Max and Shopping, conversion actions, and manager-account (MCC) performance roll-ups.
- Microsoft Advertising: accounts, campaigns, ad groups and keywords, so the Bing side of a search account is in the same chat.
- Beyond search: Meta Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, GA4, Search Console, Tag Manager and Merchant Center, so a question like "which paid search terms also rank organically" is one request.
- Safety defaults: new campaigns, ad groups and ads are created paused, and the assistant states each write and waits for your confirmation.
- Skills: ready-made routines (weekly search-term harvest, budget pacing check, account audit) published in the skills library, which give an agent the consistency a rule engine gives a platform.

A weekly PPC routine with an AI agent
Here is what the core of a Google Ads week looks like in Claude or ChatGPT with MCP Ads. Each step is one prompt; the assistant proposes and you approve.
Run my Monday PPC check for every account under the MCC: spend and conversions vs the previous week, campaigns pacing more than 15% off budget, search terms over $30 with no conversions, and any disapproved ads. One table per account, then a short list of proposed changes. Don't change anything until I confirm.- Search terms: "For Acme Dental, list search terms from the last 14 days that spent more than $30 with no conversions, grouped by theme. Propose negatives at the right match type and level."
- Negatives: "Add the ones I ticked as exact-match negatives to the shared list Brand Protection." The assistant adds them in bulk after you confirm.
- Pacing: "Which campaigns across the MCC will over- or under-spend this month at the current rate?"
- Ad assets: "Show RSA headlines and descriptions rated Low across all Search campaigns, and suggest replacements in our tone."
- Cross-channel check: "Compare Google Ads conversions with GA4 key events for the same period. Is anything double-counted or missing?"
Side by side

| Optmyzr | MCP Ads | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you work | Optmyzr's own web application | Your AI assistant: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and others |
| How work is driven | Curated optimisation suggestions, rules and alerts | Questions and routines (skills) you run in conversation |
| Platform focus | Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising, plus what its current plans add | Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, GA4, Search Console, Tag Manager, Merchant Center |
| Unattended automation | Rules and scheduled tasks are a core strength | Runs when asked, or from a scheduled agent you set up |
| Pricing model | Plans vary; check Optmyzr's current pricing | $49/month or $490/year flat for unlimited accounts, 7-day free trial |
Where each is stronger
Optmyzr is stronger when you want the tool to tell you what to look at, every day, without prompting, and when your team prefers a structured interface and a defined review process. Rules that run unattended are also a natural fit for a platform.
MCP Ads is stronger when your questions do not fit a pre-built report, when search is only part of the account (Meta, TikTok or LinkedIn spend, GA4 and Search Console data), when you want to act on the answer in the same place you asked the question, and when you want a flat price that does not depend on spend or account count. It also suits people who already spend their day in Claude or ChatGPT and do not want another login.
Using both
They do not conflict. Both act on the accounts through the Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising APIs, and negatives, budgets and campaigns live in the ad accounts, not in either tool. A practical split: keep Optmyzr for the scheduled hygiene and rules you have already tuned, and use MCP Ads for ad-hoc analysis, cross-channel questions, client questions you need to answer quickly, and anything involving Meta or analytics. After a month you will know which one your team opens first. If you do replace Optmyzr, list the rules and checks you rely on first. Each can usually be written as a standing prompt or a skill the assistant runs on request.
Try it on one account
Connect one Google Ads account to MCP Ads, run the Monday check prompt above, and compare the result with what Optmyzr showed you for the same week. Then try a question Optmyzr has no report for. The comparison page has more detail, the Google Ads MCP server page shows the setup, and pricing covers the plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is MCP Ads an Optmyzr alternative?
For many PPC managers who work in Claude or ChatGPT, yes: it covers search-term mining, negatives, pacing, ad asset review and MCC reporting through conversation, plus Meta and analytics. Optmyzr remains the stronger choice if you want a dedicated suite with suggestions and rules that run without prompting.
Can an AI agent manage Google Ads safely?
With the right defaults. In MCP Ads, new campaigns, ad groups and ads are created paused, and the assistant states each change and waits for your confirmation before writes that spend, publish or delete. Review proposed changes as you would a colleague's.
Does MCP Ads support Microsoft Advertising?
Yes. Microsoft Advertising accounts can be connected alongside Google Ads, so search campaigns on both are in the same conversation.
How does pricing compare?
MCP Ads is $49/month, or $490/year (two months free), for unlimited accounts and platforms, with a 7-day free trial. Optmyzr publishes its own plans; check its current pricing page.
